Those who started the gift basket trend are geniuses. However, not everyone can combine gifts in such a way that makes sense. Here is how to create a Mother’s Day gift basket.

Start by choosing a theme for your Mother’s Day gift basket. Start collecting gifts before you select the basket. Gather all your gifts and embellish the basket.

Whether your mom enjoys arts & crafts, gardening, food, pampering, or just some quiet time throughout the day, we’ve got you covered. Check out these cute DIY gift baskets.

GIFT BASKETS FOR MOTHER’S DAY: HOW TO MAKE THEM

1. Select the theme

Selecting a theme is essential when assembling a gift basket. This will help you decide what to give your recipient.

You should not buy a gardening gift basket for your mom if she prefers to curl up on the couch and read a book in her spare time. The same applies when you give someone who hates coffee a coffee gift basket. That only means you didn’t pay attention to her preferences.

2. Obtain the gifts

Make sure each gift ties in with the theme. Be careful not to include cheap items that aren’t related to the theme. They can always go into another gift basket.

You can easily customize the gift baskets by choosing the items you want to include. If your budget does not allow you to get all the things, choose the ones that your recipient will appreciate the most.

3. Make sure you have the right basket

Make sure you have your gifts before you get a basket. You want to put all your presents inside the basket unless you have another use for it. Find one that is large enough to hold everything.

4. Put the piece together and embellish it

You might want to add a few wads of newspaper to your basket if your items are short and small. Put shredded paper or crumpled tissue over it. Sort your gift items by height, putting the taller and bigger ones at the back.

Pack the basket in a shrink bag or wrap it in cellophane. Cellophane or bags should be gathered at the top, pulled taut, then tied with a floral wire. By doing so, it is easier to tie the top without fumbling around with ribbons.

To shrink the wrapper, use a heat gun or hair dryer. Cellophane wrappers can be folded neatly and taped under the basket so they are not visible from the outside. Add a bow and gift tag to complete the look. Bows and tags can always be customized.

Wicker baskets are a classic gift, and who can resist them? They’re affordable too. You only need one coil of rope, a few barbeque sticks, and some hot glue. The beads can be omitted and a different color of rope can be used instead.

Instructions

  1. Mark the cardboard box with a 1″ line on the bottom. Boxes should be 12″ x 12″ or 10″ x 14″. Follow this line when cutting.
  2. Barbeque skewers should be inserted into the cardboard 1″ apart.
  3. Make five turns around the basket by wrapping the rope around the skewers.
  4. As you wind the rope around the barbeque sticks, stick a wooden bead into each one. Once you’ve glued the last turn, the basket is complete.
  5. The basket should be turned upside down. Continue to glue the rope around the cardboard until the bottom of the box is reached.

40. BASKET WITH CARDBOARD AND JUTE

Recycle your cardboard box into a jute basket for a new life. Make this crafter mom’s Mother’s Day a little bit more special by filling her gift basket with handmade items.

Instructions

  1. A cardboard piece should be cut into two circles, with one circle being 38″ larger than the other. The bottom of the basket will be the smaller circle, while the top will be the larger circle.
  2. Using a smaller and larger circle, measure their circumferences.
  3. Measure the circumference of the smaller circle and divide it by 8″ to make a rectangle for the body. Measure the circumference of the larger circle and divide it by 1″.
  4. Assemble the pieces by gluing the rectangles to their circles. Sew and set aside the pieces. As the handle for the cover, coil a piece of cardboard.
  5. Add hot glue as you go to the jute rope to cover the basket’s body. Starting from the handle and working your way along the side, do the same with the cover.
  6. Cloth or construction paper should be used to cover the inside of the box. On the bottom of the box, glue a length of rope to hide the seams.
  7. Lace and faux pearls can be used to decorate.
